The Burundi Mattress is a firm, technically ambitious sleep surface built around a dual-layer pocket spring architecture that delivers one of the most responsive and body-adaptive support systems in the DeRUCCI range. Designed with couples in mind, the Burundi’s twin spring layers accommodate significant differences in body weight, shape and sleep position between two sleepers on the same mattress, ensuring each person receives precisely calibrated support without compromise or negotiation. With over 3,100 individual springs operating simultaneously beneath the sleeping surface, the Burundi provides a level of postural precision that broad-gauge single-layer systems cannot match. The first spring layer uses ultra-micro titanium alloy pocket springs, each just 2.2 cm in height and individually encased in their own fabric pocket.

A standard 180 cm wide mattress contains approximately 2,193 of these micro springs, arranged in a dense grid that responds with fine sensitivity to the precise weight and contour of each body part in real time. Titanium alloy provides significantly greater resilience and durability than conventional spring steel at a fraction of the weight, maintaining consistent tension and recovery across years of use without progressive softening. The second layer uses 14 cm high-elasticity independently pocketed springs, approximately 928 per 180 cm mattress, which provide the deeper structural support and long-travel cushioning beneath the micro layer, together producing a combined spring count exceeding 3,100 across the full mattress. Both spring layers operate in complete isolation from one another and from adjacent springs, delivering near-silent motion isolation and zero cross-body interference.

A 1 cm layer of high-elasticity natural latex sits above the spring system, providing a breathable surface with inherent antibacterial and anti-mite properties and firm upward pressure that supports the lumbar without yielding under sustained load. Wool cotton in the quilted comfort layers adds natural warmth and softness, while sound-absorbing foam and a high-elasticity sponge perimeter edge complete the construction. The beige woven knitted fabric cover is fine, skin-friendly and comfortable to the touch. The Burundi is available across four customisable heights from 21 to 29 cm, with a standard height of 27 cm.
